The Wentsteinhammer in Hollenstein an der Ybbs is one of the last remaining examples of historic ironworking along the Iron Road and represents a significant part of the region’s cultural heritage. Through the ‘Wentsteinhammer 2.0 – Culture & Nature Reloaded’ project, this special site is being carefully restored and revitalised in a contemporary way.
Existing infrastructure such as barbecue areas, parking spaces and interactive stations will be modernised and upgraded. In addition, digital offerings will provide innovative access to the history of ironworking as well as to the surrounding natural and cultural landscape. Past and present merge into a vibrant experience that imparts knowledge whilst offering space for relaxation.
The result is an open, attractive meeting place that combines the nature park, cultural history and modern visitor expectations – sustainable, accessible and engaging.
The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
