Being in the forest
At home in the forest
My name is Susanne Hirner; I am a qualified early years educator, a certified forest bathing instructor and a certified forest educator.
Even as a child, the forest was my favourite place to play and learn. I built little houses out of branches and twigs, cooked imaginative ‘dishes’ from leaves, moss and pine cones, and later retreated to my favourite tree with my schoolbooks. For me, the forest was an adventure, a place of refuge and a source of strength all at once.
Today – partly thanks to the many valuable experiences I’ve had with my three children – I know what a special effect the forest can have on us humans. It brings peace, awakens curiosity, sharpens the senses and fills us with wonder.
I would like to pass on this enthusiasm:
spending time in the forest, playing freely, discovering and exploring together, and consciously perceiving and experiencing with all the senses.
I invite children, families and anyone interested to join me in immersing ourselves in the fascinating world of the forest – mindfully, curiously and with an open heart.
