History & Importance

Long-term procedures and successful achievements

The Lower Austrian Eisenwurzen Nature Park in Hollenstein an der Ybbs was designated as a landscape conservation area in 1979 and awarded the title "Nature Park" (Nature Reserve) in 1980.

Following a prolonged period of inactivity, the community activist Willibald Bissenberger and Mag. Dungler developed a concept for the nature reserve and the official inaugural ceremony took place during the "Dreiklangfest" on the 27th April 2001.

The first detailed surveys of the flora and fauna took place in 2001 and aroused curiosity and awareness regarding the many valuable and precious natural treasures in the area. This awareness is gaining more and more importance among the residents of the area.
Their passion, interest, professionalism and the gained extensive knowledge made it possible to mediate the uniqueness of nature and to make it perceptible for the public!
