Details for: Classic Saurüssel route

Brief description

Short and relatively easy route through the Ybbs valley with a detour into the Enns valley. Ideal warm-up route for a few cycling days or as a classic "after-work ride".

Description

After the start in Waidhofen an der Ybbs, the route initially continues upstream along the Ybbs. For the first hour, there are no significant climbs in the Ybbs valley.

In Klein-Hollenstein, turn right and after one kilometer the pleasant climb up the "Saurüssel" begins: a few bends, always in the easy single-digit percentage range, before the route continues gently downhill into the Enns Valley. In Weyer, we turn sharp right at the market square and cycle slightly uphill to Gaflenz and on to Oberland. The last 8 kilometers of this "scooter tour" are a brisk and slightly downhill ride back to our starting point in Waidhofen.

Notes:

As an alternative to the flat ascent up the Saurüssel, you can take the "old Saurüssel road". Turn left directly at the start of the ascent (small bridge) and follow the ascent. The road then joins the descent to Weyer.
