Tannhäuser Schmiede

Description
Old guild in a new home: master blacksmith Thomas Hochstädt has set up a modern metal workshop at the Tannhäuser Schmiede and lets visitors look over his strong shoulder as he forges.
A master blacksmith on the move: after numerous stops around the globe, Thomas Hochstädt has found his home at the Tannhäuser Schmiede in Ybbsitz. Since 2006, he has been working at the foot of the Prochenberg as a self-employed blacksmith and passes on his knowledge in blacksmithing courses and show forging.
From the legend to the forge
Wild stories were once told about the Tannhäuser cave in the Prochenberg. Master blacksmith Thomas Hochstädt took these tales as an opportunity to dedicate his forge, newly built in 2008, to the mysterious Tannhäuser. Since then, he has been swinging his hammer there and producing metal jewelry, fittings, gates and everyday objects of all kinds.
Learning from the blacksmith: show forging
When the "zuagroaste" Ybbsitz blacksmith is not traveling the country and showing off his skills at Advent and craft markets, visitors can also look over his shoulder in his Tannhäuser smithy by appointment.
